Our mission at 1st Place 2 Start is to excite children of all cultures about learning and prepare them to be school-ready in a warm, safe, and nurturing environment through high-quality child development programs.
Who We Are
1st Place 2 Start is a nonprofit childcare center in Visitacion Valley founded in 2003. It currently leases an attractive and specially-designed facility at 1252 Sunnydale Avenue, San Francisco, CA. It had its beginnings with a sister company, 3 N 1 Learning Academy on Leland Avenue, S.F. Both organizations ran concurrently for three (3) years and then merged into one in July 2006.
Since our opening, our dedicated staff’s initial focus has been to increase enrollment through community outreach, as well as connect with childcare resources and referral programs. 1st Place 2 Start has the capacity to provide high-quality childcare services to 27 children between the ages of 2-6 years of age.
About the Company
Sandra Davis, Director, organized the nonprofit childcare in 2003 with the help of her CPA who was a former parent of the sister program, 3 N 1 Learning Academy. Her educational background includes a Business degree in Accounting and a Masters in Elementary Education with a special focus on Early Childhood Development. Her educational work experience began as a Headstart teacher, Kindergarten teacher, Family Daycare Provider, and then Director.
Our company is governed by a Board of Directors who, oversees the functions and activities of the preschool.
